James Bay Photo Album #4

This is not your typical I-95 gas station. Did I mention that the gas was $6/gallon?

The cafeteria.

Lunch at the 381KM marker.

This is a fellow traveler we met at the gas stop. We were not the only crazy ones out there.

This is a great shot of the Canadian sky taken at another rest stop along the way.

Are we ready to go yet?

James Bay Photo Album #1

Last weekend I attended a Veteran's day hog cookin' at my Dad's house. The purpose of the party was to get together as many of the members of the James Bay trip as we could. The hog was great and the company was greater. Don Williams produced a DVD that consolidated all of the pictures taken by the group on the trip. We set up a projector at Dad's and went through the entire set. I have included about 10% of the pictures in the following pictorial. As usual, click on the pictures for a higher resolution image.

Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) - Loudoun Campus. The start of the trip.

Granny's Motel and Inn - The first stop of the trip - Frackville, PA.

Dinner the first night.

Needless to say, we took over the hotel parking lot.

Halloween 2006 Pictures

As promised here are some pictures taken on Halloween night inside and outside our haunted tent complex.

About to get the party started. Left to right: Ron, Denny, Darrell, Jimmy.

Denny in full costume and ready to go.

Here I am in the coffin with the roach. Ron was in this room with me under the table. Jimmy and Darrell were in the main tent.

Closer.

Closer still.

Is it real? I was able to fool more kids than I thought in this costume. Thanks to Jimmy for the mask.

Happy Birthday - Kellie Clark

Happy 14th Birthday to Kellie Clark. I have decided to live in complete denial that Kellie is this old, but that's another story. Tonight we were accompanied by a large group of friends to celebrate the event at the local TGI Fridays. For those of you that do not know, this is Kellie's favorite restaurant. You may also know that she only orders one thing when she eats there. She will always have Spaghetti with Extra Sauce and 2 breadsticks. Tonight she mixed things up when she ordered 3 breadsticks. This must a 14-year old thing.

Babies

This past week has seen its share of new additions to our circle of family and friends. On Nov 1, Ron and Amanda McCormick saw the arrival of Millicent, finally adding a girl to the mix. Today, Tiffany and Henry Campbell had their baby boy, Luke, who now has the same birthday as Kellie. Congratulations to both new moms!

We're Bad, We're Nationwide

Today, Pembroke NC made the national news when it was featured in the USA Today in an article listing 10 great places to honor American Indian life. The article details the Lumbee outdoor drama Strike At The Wind. This is the story of the great Lumbee folk hero, Henry Berry Lowrie. If you are not familiar with the story, you owe it to yourself to read a little about it. If nothing else, you can learn a little bit of my tribal history and the environment in which Lumbee legends were born. Take a look at lumbee.org or Wikipedia for good summaries of the story. Drop me a line if you need more details.
