I just heard from N.C. that Grandpa Pete is having a pacemaker installed within the next hour. His heartrate has not exceeded 42 bpm today and the doctors feel that an increased heartrate will make him more energetic. I found some useful information

The surgery was a success and Grandpa will be under observation for the next few days.

The surgery itself was a success but that doesn't mean all is well. He continues to lose nearly a pint of blood a day through his large intestine. He is receiving blood every day while they sort this out. He is under medication to correct this problem, but I have not heard how this going.
